Brad Pitt has broken his silence on his almost decade-long divorce from Angelina Jolie after the pair finally reached a settlement.
For the last eight years, Pitt, 61, has been at the center of a media frenzy due to his high-profile divorce from his second wife, fellow Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Jolie.
Jolie, 49, made a bombshell claim that the Fight Club actor was abusive to her and their kids, with particular emphasis on an incident that allegedly took place on a flight to France back in 2016.
During their divorce proceedings, it was revealed in court documents that the Girl, Interrupted star had claimed she was attacked by her then husband, with one of their children also allegedly being assaulted on the flight in question – an accusation which Pitt has denied.
The FBI also investigated the accusation and Pitt was not charged with anything.

A settlement for the divorce was reached between the pair on the final day of the year in 2024.
Now, ahead of the release of Pitt’s latest movie F1: The Movie – which is in theaters across the US on June 27 – the 61-year-old sat down with GQ to talk about the making of the film, but he also broke his silence for the first time on the controversial divorce proceedings.
Touching on how his family life has made headlines, the father-of-six said: “My personal life is always in the news. It’s been in the news for 30 years, bro. Or some version of my personal life, let’s put it that way.”
The Oklahoma-born actor, who is currently in a relationship with 32-year-old Ines de Ramon, was then asked by GQ Reporter Daniel Riley whether F1: The Movie and the car that he spent much of his time in on set offered ‘refuge from all the attention?’.
“Um, I don’t see it that way,” Pitt said. “It’s been an annoyance I’ve had to always deal with in different degrees, large and small, as I do the things I really want to do.

“So, it’s always been this kind of nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that, I don’t know. I don’t know. Mostly I feel pretty…. My life is fairly contained.
“It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my fam, with my knowledge of who I am, that, you know, it’s like this fly buzzing around a little bit.”
And when asked if he feels different being on the other side of the divorce finally being finalized, and if he feels any relief, Pitt replied: “No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”

A source close to Angelina Jolie has claimed the actor is hopeful Brad Pitt will stop ‘attacking’ her now they have reached a settlement in their years-long divorce proceedings.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott J. Nord approved the settlement on December 31, 2024, one day after both Jolie and Pitt signed off on it and more than eight years after Jolie first filed for divorce in 2016.
The couple had been dating for 12 years and married for two when they split, with Jolie citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. In the settlement, the couple have given up the right to any future spousal financial support, the Associated Press reports.

Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, has said she is ‘exhausted’ from the proceedings, which dragged on due to custody battles, disputes over Jolie’s stake in a French winery, and claims made about a 2016 incident on board a private jet.
He added that she is now ‘relieved this one part is over’.
With the settlement reached, a source close to Jolie spoke to PEOPLE about the actor’s hopes to move forward.
They claimed: “Brad has successfully used his power and his privilege to cover up his conduct at his family’s expense, to punish Angelina for leaving, and even to attempt to paint her as the reason why his relationship is so challenging with the children.
“Angelina hopes the finalization of their divorce will enable him to move on, stop attacking her, and instead help heal their family.”
However, a source close to Pitt hit back by telling the publisher that Jolie has been involved in ‘one-sided attacks for the past eight years’.

The source claimed these ‘attacks’ included a ‘never-ending distortion of facts and projecting their own behavior onto others, causing tremendous collateral damage to those in and around the family’.
A source close to Pitt also told PEOPLE that the battle over the French winery – in which Jolie was accused of breaching an agreement when she sold her half – was a ‘perfect example’ of one of Jolie’s ‘attacks’.
“Brad built an extraordinary, increasingly valuable business and she chose to deliberately disregard their agreement, and instead of completing negotiations for him to buy her out and keeping Miraval fully in the family and ending the battles, she instead chose to sell to a total stranger not aligned with the company’s vision so she could take the money for herself and punish him,” the source claimed.

Almost 20 years on from Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s divorce, and many people still aren’t over it.
The two Hollywood powerhouses wed in 2000 before calling time on their marriage in 2005.
A statement released by the pair in January 2005 announcing the news of their separation read: “We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate.
“For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media.”
It went on: “This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another.”
The speculation mentioned in the statement was in reference to Pitt‘s rumored romance with his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie.
It was believed that the Ocean’s 11 actor had left Aniston for Jolie.
While they denied this, the pair did go on to date and were in a relationship for over a decade until their divorce in 2019.

But prior to their romance beginning, apparently Pitt had been honest with then-wife Aniston about being attracted to Jolie.

Aniston’s pal and Friends co-star Courteney Cox previously revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair: “I don’t think he started an affair physically, but I think he was attracted to her.
“There was a connection, and he was honest about that with Jen. Most of the time, when people are attracted to other people, they don’t tell.”
Cox added: “At least he was honest about it. It was an attraction that he fought for a period of time.”
Aniston had reportedly been going through a difficult time after Friends finished its ten season run in 2004, and according to insiders, Pitt – who busy filming with Jolie – ‘just wasn’t there for her’.

An insider told People at the time: “They gradually lost sight of themselves as individuals.
“And despite their nice lifestyle and having everything they might want, they weren’t happy. They lost a sense of self.”
While their marriage ended, it seems as if Aniston and Pitt have always remained on good terms.
In fact, at the 2020 SAG Awards the pair sent the internet into a frenzy when they were seen sharing a sweet moment together after Pitt won an award for his role in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s hefty court battle continues, as Pitt slams his ex-wife for making ‘intrusive’ requests he believes have nothing to do with their case.
The latest claims come after Pitt sued Jolie in 2022 for selling off her stake in the former couple’s French winery, Chateau Miraval, to Stoli, a company owned by a Russian oligarch, without his consent. Pitt alleged that they planned to pass down the business to their children.
Pitt further accused Stoli of a hostile takeover and sued to reverse Jolie’s stock sale. Jolie denied any wrongdoing and claimed that she was not obligated to seek out Pitt’s approval of the sale.

In a $350 million countersuit, Stoli accused Pitt of misusing company assets, which he denied.
As both court cases ensue, recent developments see Pitt accusing his ex-wife of ‘wide ranging and intrusive’ demands during their ongoing $350 million dispute.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Pitt is accusing Jolie’s side of making 54 requests for documents from him that he believes are unrelated to the current corporate case at hand.
According to In Touch, Jolie is requesting Pitt turn over all private communication he had with his friends and business partners regarding a 2016 altercation the former couple had on a private jet. She also asked for any communication he had with the FBI regarding the matter.
Pitt and Jolie famously got divorced in 2016 shortly after Pitt was allegedly physically abusive to Jolie and their kids on a private plane. The incident was investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the FBI, but no criminal charges were made against Pitt.

The actor’s lawyer at the time addressed Jolie’s accusation that he got physical with her and their children saying: “Brad has owned everything he’s responsible for from day one — unlike the other side but he’s not going to own anything he didn’t do. He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation.”
In this new motion, Pitt’s lawyer criticized Jolie’s request for his private chats, describing them as ‘unnecessary motion practice’ and a vehicle for ‘another public filing rife with personal attacks.’
He continued: “These private, third-party communications are far removed from the issues and allegations in this case, and in many cases, they have nothing but the most tenuous relationship to ‘what happened on that plane.’
“Jolie, however, wants them anyway as part of her efforts to turn this business dispute into a re-litigation of the former couple’s divorce case.”
UNILAD has requested comment from both Pitt and Jolie’s representatives.

It will be eight years to the date since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie filed for a divorce… and it is still ongoing, with the latest revelation being that Jolie is ‘forced to stay in Los Angeles’.
While they did eventually divorce in 2019, due to the huge amount of assets the pair own, which includes a vineyard in the south of France the pair bought for around $25 million, it has dragged on for way longer than any you’re likely to hear of.
Now, the 49-year-old has opened up to the Hollywood Reporter about her plans for the future as she appears to take subtle digs at her former husband.
The pair share six children – 23-year-old Maddox, then 20-year-old Pax, 19-year-old Zahara, 18-year-old Shiloh, 16-year-old Knox and his twin sister Vivienne.
“I’ve been a parent for 23 years. The most beautiful thing about being a parent is that you are not the center of your life. So you are leaving set, focused on something for someone,” she told the publication when asked how she shakes off the stress of acting.
“That’s your real life. Your real world. And that always is the majority of who you are.”
The interview comes as Jolie gets back on the acting horse for the first time in several years, as she portrays opera singer Maria Callas for the upcoming film Maria.

The magazine’s Rebecca Keegan asks: “Why had you waited so long since you last acted or directed?”
Jolie swiftly answers: “I needed to be home more with my kids.”
“I have never had a set where my family is not allowed to be there because I’m focusing — I’m not that person,” she tells Keegan.
So, what is her ambition once a settlement has been reach with the divorce proceedings?
Jolie plans to swap the hustle and bustle of LA for the calming countrysides of Cambodia – where she and Pitt adopted their eldest son from, and where she already has a home.

Speaking about it, she said: “I grew up in this town [LA]. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave. When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety.
“I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.
“[After Los Angeles,] I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”
